Did you go into the Create Flight section and create an IFR flight first?

In the Free Flight window, you must click on the Flight Planner button. You then create a flight plan, making sure you select IFR as the Flight Plan Type. Or you can load a previously saved IFR flight plan, if you have any.

You can also do it from the cockpit...-Flights-Flight Planner.

At that time [1909] the chief engineer was almost always the chief test pilot as well. That had the fortunate result of eliminating poor engineering early in aviation.

mmm, you say you installed over and over but looking back through your previous messages for a clue I see that FSX is on a seperate drive and you simply run the repair when you reinstall.  That is something I`ve never trusted myself from day one.

Up to you but at the end of the day I haven`t seen that reported elsewhere about losing the IFR from the ATC menu when installing Acceleration.  I have it here myself, installed many times over and I`ve never had that problem.

On a proper install with an IFR flightplan selected the option should show up in the ATC menu.  I did a search online and nobody else has reported it.  But not everyone 'installs' (?) in that way.  Might not be the answer but until someone else chips in its the only difference noted.

Unless the disk is faulty theirs nothing wrong with the Acceleration install, since we all use the same one.

so i have reinstalled the game 6 times.

i can create a plan, set it all up in the plane, see it on GPS. but when i got to taxi from the gate, there is no opition to "request IFR clearnce to......." where ever i want to go. i have been to LAX, Ksan, Denver, to see if it was the ATC at one place. but no luck. please can anyone help? or is it a bad file that some one could just send a link to download a good file?  :'(  i feel hopeless.

Are you sure you`re doing this?

(1) Select Flight Planner
(2) Select 'from' and 'to' Airports
(3) Select IFR
(4) Find route

Then save it and allow it to place your plane at the airport or not if already there.  That is the only way IFR will show up in  the ATC menu, ,iss a step out and it will not work.  Do a 'Direct to' from the GPS and it will not work or display IFR.  You can only do it from the file menu or in the Flight planner before you start the scenario.  Either way it has to be done as above.  Apologies if you`re already doing this but MAKE SURE YOU ARE!  If you`re already doing this then no idea!  But I think you`re missing something along the way.  Check with the lessons and make sure you`re doing things to the letter.
