HEADS UP!... FSWC

FSX including FSX Steam version.

HEADS UP!... FSWC

Postby NickN » Sun Jul 06, 2008 5:21 pm

.... will be officially launching tomorrow (MONDAY JULY 7th 2008)

http://www.fswaterconfigurator.com/

You can obtain a copy from the download link on the main website tomorrow and it will be available at SimV freeware library as soon as they get it posted.

Soon FSWC will be offering to all developers a freeware plug-in SDK which will allow FSWC to highlight freeware and payware offerings for environmental texture upgrades and weather control systems. FSWC will allow a user to enhance their FSX water shade, tone, reflections to personal taste and with the up and coming SDK allow FSWC to vastly improve other addons both freeware and payware offered at no charge to anyone.

FSWC is freeware with restricted use limitations and is open to everyone for use.

This is the shader product I personally use with my own settings to make the FSX world more realistic to my personal taste.

This software has been under development for some time and everyone will soon be able to give is a spin. Please read the documentation about FSX SP1 limits too. FSX SP2/Acceleration has no issues/limits with the use of the tool at this time. Ashton will continue to look into the RTM/SP1 issues as time permits.

and I hope all enjoy this freeware offering. Paul and Ashton have outdone themselves with this project.

Special thanks goes out to SimV for hosting the file and supporting the freeware discussion during development. SimV is all about the hobby and FSWC supports that mindset as well.

Enjoy!

Hello Nick,

If you already have FEX, will FSWC enhance FEX water?

Hi Rod

Check the FSWC website.. it works with the environment addons and I use FEX with it as well

You can see images of FEX and FSWC in action here with the settings I use:

Here are my custom edited ENV files if you would like to try them

They smooth out the digital 'pixel' effect on reflections quite a bit and tend to enhance wave animations.

make SURE to follow the directions and back up the originals first so you can restore FSX to default. If you dont, you cant recover the default files.

Both ;).

FSWC for the water changing, Nick's Reflection mod to smooth out the reflections themselves ;).

Just a heads up on those ENV's Chris from FEX was kind enough to offer some info around those files.. they will upgrade 1x water but their influence on 2x water appears to not be as I thought. I am checking into it now.

According to Chris the primary files that needs attention are OceanHeight20FieldX and since that is changed with FEX wave themes (for FEX users) trying to fix the pixelation is not possible without editing FEX work, which I wont do of course, however I am going to look at this for default FSX OceanHeight20Field so those who may not be able to afford or do not use addon environment can get some relief in that area.

It's great to see the FEX guys on the stick and willing to help by sharing their knowledge! Thats what the hobby is all about.

Does this mean we should disable the wave settings in FEX to get the best out of FSWC?

No, not at all

and adding the ENV files I posted will not affect anything with FEX or FSWC

They will display a huge improvement with 1x water regardless of any add on or FSWC use.

I will work on a set of free Oceanheight files for 2x users but those will only be for people who do not use FEX or other water addons, only default FEX water
