Fixing the wrongs of Acceleration.

Postby Anxyous » Wed Jun 11, 2008 2:03 pm

I got Acceleration this weekend... And though I must say that Microsoft put out a great expansion pack, they ruined a lot of things as well.

First of all (might be an SP2 problem) I'm getting a lot of screen tearing, and 'jerky' environment now. Any way to fix it?

And in the RBAR practices, you got the most annoying plane with you. Real races are never flown by more than one pilot at once (which is also the case in the final, actual races), but you got an idiot, blinding you with smoke and stuff. If you get by him, be ready to hold your position, because with no fear, he'll ram into you, causing YOU to crash. Any way to remove him?

And why did the flight profile of the Extra 300S need to be changed? It was great as it was. I'd be happy if someone without Acceleration could send me the .cfg file for the Extra 300S. I'm just afraid I'll lose self-shadowing and what not, so if anyone knows how to add those parts, if necessary, please tell me.

I think I got it all  ;D

For the screen tearing and jerki environment, this is of course linked to SP2. It might be that:
- you installed Acceleration incorrectly
- you installed Acceleration correctly, but you still have your old tweaks in FSX.cfg which are not valid anymore
- you installed Acceleration correctly, but you forgot to tweak your FSX.cfg again.

Very first thing to try would be to delete your FSX.cfg and let the sim build a new one on startup. Then check the tweak topic from Nick to see what you have to add inside.

For the RBAR practise, the other plane is there to show you the way. You can simply deactivate the crash detection, or even just the collision with other aircrafts I think.

For the Extra, I don't know how great it was before, but if they changed it they certainly had a reason. I saw no issue with the Extra in Acceleration, very fun to fly, a bit hard to control, very nervous machine.... like the real thing I presume. I have never flown the real Extra, so I could tell if the Acceleration model has a problem, or if the pre-Acceleration model has a problem ;)

Can you fly the race circuit in free flight without the mission?

Never tried to be honnest. I think the "race" system (that shows the waypoints and chrono) is only active in the missions, and I don't know if the pylons appear in freeflight. Anybody checked ?

The tearing can be fixed by setting the vertical sync to "force on" in the video control panel.  Also, have you installed & setup nHancer?

SP2 fixed some thing but also broke some things but a worthy install. You made need to delete your exisiting FSX config and let FSX build a new one. it will allow FSX to set everything to what it thinks is best for SP2 then just redo tweaks, mind you after SP2 some tweaks dont do anyting. Get NHANCER http://www.nhancer.com/ it has a profile for FSX but you may need to mess with some of the settings, and untick the " run at startup option" it doesnt need to be running in background as all its settings are saved in the registry.
