Nick - help if possible

Postby wsciutti » Sun Jun 01, 2008 3:56 pm

Ni Nick,

Again, add me to the  many who appreciate your knowledge sharing.

If you pass by, some of your experience, please.

I purchased an ATI 3870 for a reasonable price; when I tested with FSX the picture seemed more shimmery, less sharp than the 8800 GTS I use following your suggestions(nhancer, etc).

SO, the problem is me! Any suggestions on setting up the 8.5 control center for XP Home, SP2, FSX SP2, UTX US, GEX-I, FEX, FSGennsis???
Oh, 3Gb Ram, Asus P5B, DDR 200, Intel dual core @ 2.4.

Many thanks.

:)

There is no tweak system for ATi like Nhancer

It's pretty strait forward

AA=4x
AF=16x,
Mip or Texture Quality = Maximum or highest quality
Catalyst AI to ADVANCED,

Nick and Bill:  I wonder whether you might be kind enough to have a look at my post below in Payware/Team Eaglesoft.

I have been defeated by what must be a straightfoward problem, but I am unable to recognise and repair it.  It happens as the Integra software initiates.

Very odd.  I'm using an HD 3870 w/CCC 8.5.  I don't have an option to tick a box to enable Geometry instancing under more options AND even though I've ticked VPU recover I don't have an option to generate a report.  I'm wondering if this is specific to the HD 3870 version of CCC?

Nick,

Many thanks. I believe I will stay with the 8800. Using your suggestions, I can set my modest FSX box to:

FR: locked at 21
Resolution: 1920x1200, 32 bit @ 60 Hz on a Gateway 24 TFT
Scenery complexity: ED
Autogen: VD
Large, 10,7,low 2x

The only .cfg additions: Tress = 800, buffer pools = 800000.

The FR does drop a bit on T/O from DCA (an area I know well). All A/C, stock and add-on including Realair Spitfire (except LvD 767), remain at 21 FPS at the modest airports.

To anyone who has NOT set up their PC as Nick has suggested, please give it a try.

Thanks again.

JS

PS: The only O&O I could get was 8.6 which seems to work fine.

PLEASE continue to share your knowledge; I followed your test plan in one of the discussions and finally arrived at what I reported.

PPS: bet I am a bt older than you; ain't it fun!!!!
