New problem?

Postby Tyle » Sun May 04, 2008 7:30 pm

I've searched but I haven't been able to find anything on this:  I finally installed the SP1 and SP2 downloads to my FSX Delux, but after about five minutes of flying, the whole computer shuts down.  I reboot, open FSX, and after another five minutes it still shuts down again---and with a different flight, plane, etc.  So I uninstalled both SP2 and SP1 and start FSX and everything just works perfectly.   Just to make sure, I install both updates again, but I fly FSX after the SP1 and then after the SP2 install and the computer shuts down after the SP1, so I guess that's the culprit-not SP2.  BTW, I still have FS9 running perfectly, and my system is an XP SP2 with 2 G memory, Dual-core, etc etc which is just a dream with everything else.  Anybody know what's going on?

Did you do a 'clean' install as recommended in the 'sticky'?

At that time [1909] the chief engineer was almost always the chief test pilot as well. That had the fortunate result of eliminating poor engineering early in aviation.

Hi, yes I should have stated that, I did everything according to the "book."  And there were no hangups on the whole procedure so it was a good test and excercize.   I can't imagine what would just all of a sudden turn everything off.  If only FSX crashed-out, it would maybe make more sense.??

Upgrade you video drivers

SP1 and SP2 requires certain driver revisions or higher and also make sure DirectX is updated

Hi, just checked and all of my drivers are up to date.  When the system crashes, the computer just shuts off completely as if I unplugged it.  Then I have to reboot.  How would I find out if and what dll file or module caused it?
