SDK, VisualFXTool etc.

Postby theduke » Fri May 02, 2008 2:57 pm

I have SDK installed. I have the following lines in my dll.xml file.

-
 Visual Effects Tool
 False
 False
 E:\Program Files\Microsoft Games\Microsoft Flight Simulator X SDK\SDK\Environment Kit\Special Effects SDK\visualfxtool.dll

However, the tool does not show up in FSX. I would like to place a forest fire at a certain coordinance. I am totally lost with this stuff. Anyone got any suggestions as to why the tool doesn't show up. All I get is "recorder","Instant Scenery". and FSUIPC"(unregistered).

the SDK is not something you access through FSX. its a stand alone addon

Ifts not as simple as you may think to use

Believe me, I have found that out!!!! Trouble is, on my computer, it doesn't stand alone. It doesn't stand at all.

Can you tell me how to drag an XML file into bglcomp.exe like the SDK instructions say to do. When I click on bglcomp.exe, all I get is a momentary flash of a DOS screen.

I also would like to know where this "tool menu" is? when you have visualfxtool.dll installed properly in the dll.XML, it is suppose to show up in the tool menu.

Make sure your path is correct. If it is not, then edit it to be correct. Here is my dll.xml entry. Note that I installed the SDK to a "shorter path" and not the default, since Vista doesn't play nicely when stuff is in the \Program Files folder...
