when in the game, in full screen, fsx is sharp...in windowed, its rough around the edges
.....when i take a screenshot in vista, the shot is rough around the edges
.....when i take a screenshot in xp, the shot is sharp
.....when i take a screenshot in vista which is jagged, and move it to xp, the shot is sharp
.....go figure  :).....

Are Vista and XP onth e same computer using the same screen at the same resolution? That may be the source of your descrepency. If they are all the same, make sure you are viewing the image at 100% zoom.

eric - That isn't true. Vista is not a resource hog, and neither does it turn a powerful computer into a powerless. It isn't desgned to run like XP, and was never meant to. If you try to make an XP machine run Vista, it wont have the power to run it. If you put Vista onto a Vista designed machine, it will run it fine. I'm not talking about a high end super machine, but a basic one with a dual core processor and at least a gig of ram.

If you try to make an XP machine run Vista, it wont have the power to run it.

That would include single cores....anything less than 1.5GBs of RAM (in my experience) and integrated graphics in older computers.
Yeah, that old 3.2GHz P4 is not going to run Vista.

It all depends on what you are trying to run.   FSX on an underpowered machine running XP may be marginally better than one with Vista, but they will both be poor.

Alrot I run photoshop without a problem in Vista - but I am not a professional.

If you use your machine for a range of intense rendering tasks, then a well balanced bug-free XP is likely to be right for you.  If you are a heavy user of these sorts of programs I have no doubt XP is probably still the best.  For me most of my professional tasks require no more than a low grunt laptop - Office programs and email.

Believe me FSX has me running a machine totally over-specified for Office.  My PDA is just about all I need!

And Yanco, NO.  Your AA is not correctly optimised.
