You DO NOT need the disk in the tray to run FSX.  In doing so it begins an autostart routine on the disk and performs the install routine.  Also, its a flight simulator, not a game.....

Thanx very much, Reider
Now how would I have been expected to assume as much? I'd think they'd mention this after the install or something but I'm glad as it prevents a lot of scratching this way.
Seems I remember another game a few years back that mentioned the game disk did not need to be in the tray to play.

The actual act of activating the software does away with the necessity for MS to force the user to keep a disk in the tray for owner confirmation.  This is in writing somewhere, forget where.

The act of disks auto starting has been around a long long time.  On disks where their is a requirement to keep the disk in their is a file that stops the auto start of the install.  Their was no need for that file in this software.

If the user does not see or does not read the message/instructions then these mistakes happen.  You`re not the first one I`ve come across who has thought theirs a need for the disk in the tray but their certainly haven`t been many, a handful.  At least its sorted now, thats the main point.
