Catalina Day Spa

Hi guys,

What exactly am I supposed to do on the above mission?

I get to the bit where the engine fails, notify dispatcher and she says I'm going to go for a swim and she notifies people etc. But then what? The mission objective changes to land on carrier, but the mission pointer and mission compass stay on the airport? Tried pressing K but it won't change. Where is said carrier?

Also, how do I work the AP? I can find the big button to turn it on but none of the other controls, such as set height on the altimeter, heading etc.

Cheers

Tom

Look down, when I did it the carrier was directly below me when the engine fails. It's going in the direction of your left.

Thanks, Peter. Shall have another look shortly. Why does the dispatcher not say "land on carrier"?

Because you don't have the US navy's permission to land on the carrier, you could be a terrorist for all they know! The carrier will radio you as you approach telling you to 'divert from your course' and they will launch a lifecraft if you land in the sea, but don't listen or you'll fail the mission.

i remember this mission, there are 2 possible rewards available i think, one if you land on the carrier and one if you make it to the original destination. It happens randomly but sometimes your engine works again (after its failed the first time) and you can *try* to make your way to the original airport.

Happy flying  :)

I shall have a go at both of those. Thanks.

Anyone got ANY idea how the autopilot works in this plane?

if you land on the carrier you get a reward, and if you manage to continue on to the airport you get 'problem solver' reward, obviously you'll have to do the mission twice to get both.  to get the engines started again you press  'SHIFT' + 7  ( I think) to bring up panel, then turn on the generator switch(think that's it lol, if not, then one of the others, there arn't many).

...it's the GrandCaravan if I'm right? It should have the AP-control panel just under the radios. Try switching on the help/info (maybe someone speaking proper english could help here) that shows by moving the mouse over adjustable instruments. There should be red letters: one for the HDG, one for ALT and so on. Beneath are the switches (next to the main AP switch).
