If you still want the security benefits of having UAC turned on then this is what you need to do before editing the cfg.
1. right click on the aircraft.cfg file and go to properties
2. go to the security tab
3. click "Edit" where it says, "To change permissions, click Edit."
4. Click "Continue" when the UAC windows comes up
5. Highlight "Users" in the Group or user names window
6. Check the box "Full Controll" under permissions for users
7. Click "OK" twice and you are ready to edit your file.
You can do this for any file or folder, it isn't limited to .cfg files. Hope this helps.
