Airbus A321 Pitch Control

Postby drummer_tom » Sat Mar 22, 2008 2:33 pm

Hi guys,

In my airbus A321 the pitch control does not work. This applies to whether I use my joystick or physically click it in the throttle quadrant. This makes landing much more difficult!

Anyone else have this problem?

Anyone know how to fix it?

It's FSX's version of "Fly by wire"... not sure how accurate it is, but it's pretty slick.

If you notice.. when the autopilot is off.. you just set the pitch with the joystick, and the trim automatically adjusts to maintain that pitch angle

Oh yes, this problem. I was going to post something about this too, a few weeks ago, but i figured it out before i had a chance.
With any joystick controller i used the problem was persistent on this aircraft only:
- Aircraft had an agressive pitch change when pulling back or pushing foward gently.
- Over-adjusted banking
- Had a difficult time trying to manually hold a certain degree of pitch

If this sounds familiar, you have encountered the infamous Fly-By-Wire introduced in this version of FS.
You can turn it off though!
In VC mode, look up towards the overhead control panel, on the bottom right quadrant of this panel look for FLIGHT COMPUTER or something like that. There are about 4 or 5 switches that turn aileron, elevator, and rudder control computers on/off.
TURN THEM ALL OFF
By default they are always on. But when off, i find to have no problems as before.
TRY IT! let me know how it goes...

Well, you really have two choices:

1. Learn to aviate using the Airbus FBW method...

2. Neuter your Airbus and turn it into a pseudo-Boeing...  :o

Once you get used to it, and know what to expect... it makes for some pretty interesting and fun piloting. I like it (and I hate flying tubes)..

It just means that when landing you have to pitch the nose down quite considerably.
