I have used FS9 sounds in FSX and haven't had any problems. Simply replace the existing sound folder with whatever best suits (back up the original first) and you're all set. FSX-native models seem to have added dimensions to the sound.cfg file, such as cone bearing (this may well be named differently, it's in the SDK but I haven't reviewed it for awhile), that aren't available in FS9. If you open an FS9 aircraft's sound.cfg file and do the same with an FSX-native aircraft, the differences will be apparent. Worst case would be that you might not have the absolute full rich sound experience (including surround) of a purposely-configured FSX item, but if the sounds are generally more to your liking, this may not be of much concern.
