I had a white out problem that may have been similar to yours.  I had a lot of non FSX aircraft, some updated to FSX and other just plain FS9, that worked the first time I installed Acceleration.  Due to defrag problems I uninstalled and reinstalled FSX and Acceleration after fixing my defrag problem.  Then when ever I would choose one of those aircraft the part of the screen that displays the rotating aircraft of choice went white, when starting up with an FSX aircraft and then loading a old aircraft the whole monitor would go white.  Well I uninstalled everything and then followed the procedure provided in the above link and bingo, all of the old aircraft work again.  You might try a uninstall and follow the procedure and see what happens.

I had a similar problem, when I first installed Acceleration my FS9 and FS9 updated FSX aircraft worked.  Due to a problem with my defrag program I uninstalled FSX and Acceleration, fixed by defrag problem and then reinstalled FSX and Acceleration.  After the reinstalled when I would select one of these aircraft after the sim loaded with an FSX aircraft the whole display would go white.  At the start up window if I would choose one of these aircraft the part of the screen that shows the aircraft that you choose rotating would go white.  Since I knew that it worked before I did not think that it was an Acceleration problem.  I found the above thread suggesting to unintall and how to reinstall FSX and Acceleration.  Well I followed that and know everything works, FSX default, FS9 updated to FSX and plain old FS9.

Your expereince is exactly why I develop and post a process install. It eliminates the possible errors of the past and lands a foundation which either fixes issues or allows them to be correctly diagnosed/fixed

I chose to go back and remove all third party planes (even pay ware) and see if this would clear up my problem. I again installed the package over SFX/SP1, fired it up, and everything is working fine. Night lighting is back, no perceived change in performance, planes function properly, and no funny things happening as before.

That is what a technical-reinstall does, it eliminates the problems add-ons create and it is NOT Aces responsibility to tell you to uninstall all your add-ons they are not responsible for, nor, do they have time to test. That install also eliminates mistakes made during the initial RTM/SP1 install where there are so many possibilities of an error based on the user not following install protocol, or a corruption glitch, its not even funny.

Aces is responsible for RTM, SP1, SP2 and Acceleration packages being installed, and not ONE of your add-ons or how they may react or damage the sim by installing or overwriting textures or other files they had NO BUSINESS overwriting to begin with.

One the biggest GRIPES I have with payware and freeware developers, even with FS9, is that many of them INCLUDED modified gauges, textures and other files which OVERWRITE the default with the same names with absolutely no warning and in doing so, then, SCREW UP MY SIM in other areas. The only items an add-on should ever install are items that do not exist in the sim at all, or renamed items that are called by their products only.

So your reasoning is a bit flawed. Aces designed the package to be installed without issues. How you choose to do that is up to you but none the less, taking the easier route is not always the best way to go. Especially if you did not install SP1 correctly to begin with and there was a problem in that area you never knew existed.

Are you sure your sim is working at its max ability now... 100% sure?

good, I am glad we agree

and I am also glad you were able to get Acceleration working. Had that happened the first time it was installed your trial report of the software would have probably been a bit different.

Yes, it is good to agree,

And had I gotten a couple of sentences out of the box telling me to first re-install FSX then install the FSX Acceleration Expansion Pack following the instructions from the DVD, this post would have been a lot shorter.
