B777-300 Package question

Postby Invertalon » Mon Dec 10, 2007 9:01 pm

I just downloaded this package for FSX for the second time (new computer), and last time the VC worked but this time on this new computer, the VC no longer works.. The gauges and stuff are missing. What would cause it to work on one install but not the next, any ideas?

I really appreciate the help!

Welcome to SimV first of all!
Did you install the gauges right?

I believe so? I did not think there was a specific way to install the gauges in this model except just to extract the entire folder into the simobjects-->airplanes folder. It seems to possibly be missing a .cab file? In the panel folder of the 777, it has a file that says boeing777-300.gau, but not .cab which is every other VC available aircraft I have.

Just weird I did nothing different (I don't think?) and now it wont work :(

Thanks for the welcome! I have been around a while, but just a "surfer"! Glad to finally sign up!  ;D

Check to make sure you have the following files:
Model Folder
777_300.mdl
model.cfg
Panel Folder
forward_640.bmp
forward_1024.bmp
panel.cfg
Sound Folder
Sound.cfg
Inside the 777_300 folder
aircraft.cfg
Boeing777-300.air
html documents...textures...
Gauges in the C:\Program Files\Microsoft Games\Flight Simulator 9\Gauges address
Boeing777-300.gau

If any of these are in the wrong place, delete them all and reinstall. If that doesn't work then you should probably redownload just in case you downloaded a damaged file, also, check for patches and of panels etc.

Hope it helped

Now note, this is FSX (just for clarification).

I checked all the files and all was good to go. I still do not get gauges when I go in game and I tried re-installing three times now. I think I may just have to give up on this one lol.

I do not understand you very well, But as far I can understand I think ,IF you don't place the Gauges inside the panel folder ,WON'T work ,I assume Originaly this 777 was a Makemdl9 aircraft (A plane made using FS9-SDK) so Just paste all the gauges inside the panel folder and NOT in the FSX gauge Main folder, check if there is a aliasing in Sound and Panel folder , just in case..

I was putting that down from the default 777-300 in FS2004.
Try downloading again if you have already done what Alejandro told you to and if it doesn't work then, well, your computer must be hungry.

If this works properly on your old PC you need to consider what is different about the new one. Also any differences with your FSX installation. For example: does the new machine have Vista installed? Are you using FSX with SP1 or Acceleration + SP2 + DX10? It's possible that this could affect whether those gauges display.

I think ,IF you don't place the Gauges inside the panel folder ,WON'T work ,I assume Originaly this 777 was a Makemdl9 aircraft (A plane made using FS9-SDK) so Just paste all the gauges inside the panel folder and NOT in the FSX gauge Main folder,

I don't think this matters. Gauges should work from either location. AFAIK

PS. Try the 2D panel. [F10] That uses the same gauge.

I sure you are right Doug , But I had a few problems when I made the Hawker with the gauges,I fix it by place them in the panel folder ,It should look into the main Gauges folder..

where are you getting this plane? Now I'm 100%

I believe it's the full package posted here. http://www.simviation.com/fsxjets23.htm

I haven't downloaded it to check it out. I suspect it's quite likely that the old FS9 default gauges in GAU format are no longer compatible with some combinations of FSX/Vista/Acceleration/DX10 etc.

You have a good point Alex & it's worth a try.

I just did an experiment by deleting the 777-300.gau entry from the [Trusted] section of my fsx.cfg. This simply meant that I got the option to add it as trusted software next time I selected the aircraft.
