World of AI Package

Postby el_777 » Thu Nov 29, 2007 4:23 pm

Hi, I have a question regarding world of AI package.

I have installed around 3-4 of these packs like Delta, Southwest, United. However, I don't see the orginal general aviation traffic there anymore. Does anyone know how to keep the WOAI traffic and have the general aviation traffic from FSX as well.

Thanks

WOAI traffic BGL's are still using the FS9 format ( TTools compatible ) I do believe.

FS9 traffic BGL's that are in the same folder as the default FSX traffic BGL's will cause
the FSX traffic BGL's to be ignored, thus the loss of your default GA AI. You should
also notice that your default AI shipping traffic is gone also.

You need to run the WOAI traffic BGL's through one of the available conversion
utilities to make them "FSX compatible".

I've heard, but not verified,  moving the WOAI traffic BGL's into their own
"scenery" folder inside the Addon Scenery folder and then activatiing
the new folder will also overcome this FSX limitation.

Hey thanks for your help!!!  ;D

I finally got the WOAI package to work with the regular GA AI. I just needed to install the WOAI package into the Add On scenery folder and now I get FSX AI and WOAI!

Did you use the WOAI installer to install the files directly into you add-on scenery folder?

I installed AI packages (All of them) using WOAI, but the installer installed them into my Scenery/World/Scenery folder disabeling my default AI.

I then moved the BGL files from there into the add-on scenery but my default AI is still missing. I hope it means I must tell the WOAI to install them at a different place cause then it mean I know how to do it right this time.

I believe I first installed them into the normal simobjects/airplanes folder, but after seeing no GAAI I removed all packages and uninstalled them. Then I decided to install into the add on scenery folder and it worked.

flying mouse -- you'll need to convert the WOAI bgls that you created using the WOAI installer into fsx format bgls and then move them to your addon scenery folder.  The first thing to do once you've created the bgls is to move them from scenery/world/scenery to a test folder of your choice.

To make the conversion I used two programs by the same developer.  First program can be found at avsim and it's called FP_FS9_FSX and it's written by Peter van der Veen.  I believe that this first program checks to make sure that the fs8/fs9 flight plans and airports for each WOAI package is valid for fsx (i.e., some airports have closed or changed names).

The second program written the by same developer is called AIFPC and can be downloaded from:  http://www.fsdeveloper.com/forum/showthread.php?t=4746&highlight=AIFPC

The second program will now decompile the corrected WOAI bgls into fsx flight plans and recompile into a bgl.

I created a folder in the addon scenery folder called WOAI and then a scenery folder within this folder.  This folder sits one priority level beneath my fsx ai addon package called MyTrafficX.  I can confirm that WOAI is working with the fsx ai traffic, which was not the case prior to converting using AIFPC.

I'm sorry kagazi, but I am not seeing the place within the link for the AIFPC program. :-? I even went to the link of that person's website but still nothing. Do you know where the link for the download is in that forum?

There is a link on page 3 of the thread.

Thanx for the advice on the 2nd file. I did use the first file spoken of to convert the bgl files into fsx bgl's. Nick told me of that file in a previous post.

Using the converted bgl's I still noted no default AI, and only WOAI. I will now run my bgl's through the second file spoken off then add them into my add-on scenery.

Hope it works.

Thanx!
