AI Airlines Expansion

Postby Flying Mouse » Wed Nov 14, 2007 7:01 am

Ok so after many attempts to install different AI aircrafts with flight plans ect I came to the following.

It is much easier for me to download textures and replace them with the default aircrafts I have ranging from 747, 737, A321 and smaller props.

It worked so well that even my AI aircraft adopted the airlines paint and names in ATC. SO now my skies are loaded with nice paint schemes

Now my question is:

I have lets say 3 default CRJ700's in FSX Delux. I changed the paints on them all installing different textures and editing the .CFG.

HOW:

...do I add lets say 3 more different planes used by AI.

I know how to install extra planes, more textures and added [fltsim.xx] but how do I get these planes to become AI?

Hope it is clear and thanking helpers in advance  ;)

Well in FS9 You had to edit the air file. It could be the same in FSX but I have not tried it nor do I know if someone has come up with a .AIR file editor for FSX .

In FSX in order to use/see an aircraft in preview and select it for you to fly, it must have a panel associated with the aircraft. There is a way to specify an aircraft be only AI in the .air file but it is not necessary. AI aircraft do not need a panel.

In order to have the sim use added aircraft for AI you need to learn how to decompile/edit/recompile the air traffic .bgl files.. an entire routine which requires special traffic tools desined for FSX use

When you add a freeware/payware AI they typically come with a pre-generated traffic fileor traffic text file for you to manually compile into the main traffic bgl. You must also be careful to not duplicate a gate/time with other aircraft or you will end up with 2 models sitting at the same gate.

EDIT: Just an FYI... if you download older AI aircraft such as PAI which use the old FS9 bgl compile method you must run the file throug a converter which will correct it for FSX use. Newer versions of traffic toold have the correct output format designed into them

If you wish to add traffic you need to search out how to do so using the right tools with FSX. It's a job in itself.
