Carriers

I have a whole bunch of carriers in fs9 and about 30 or so aircraft that are modified for launching and arresting with the great RCBO package.

I have a whole bunch of carriers in fs9 and about 30 or so aircraft that are modified for launching and arresting with the great RCBO package.  Now it is time to do the same thing in fsx since the new RCBO version is available--it seems even better.  There are instructions in the installation files for moving the carriers to different locations by using the file  Bglcomp.exe with the files included in the carrier downloads.  My question is how or where do I obtain the Bglcomp.exe files for both fs9 and fsx so that I can do this myself, or is it really only for those who are experts in scenery or design work and it is just not meant for my use?

Thanks ahead.

Why not use the FSX moving carriers instead?

There is a download available ( aicarriers1.zip ) in the Avsim library that will
add several CVN's and escorts at different places around the world.
The download comes with a Google Earth file that makes it easier to find
the CVN's, since you can't start on them and they are moving over courses
that are many miles long. The RBCBO-30 utility files can be used in the
"global zone" mode to provide the arrestor and catapult capability.

The author of the aicarrier1 package also has a utility available on his
site ( mentioned in the above download ) that makes it easy to add your
own moving ships in FSX using Google Earth to define the routes that they
will follow and then compile the data into a traffic BGL file.

As mentioned, you can't start on the moving CVN's but you can "trap" then
taxi to one of the bow cats and launch. The "action" is in the approach and
landing anyhow...  :)

Thanks Paul,

I definitely will obtain and try out your suggestions.  However, the Bglcomp.exe question would still be appreciated by anyone knowledgeable in this area--both for fs9 and fsx.  For example, I would then be able to have a carrier task force with perhaps the Stennis or Waikato on the Mississippe River in Minneapolis, or on Lake Tahoe in California--or literally anywhere on Earth--and they could be either moving or stationary.  From what little expertise I have in scenery additions, it seems Bglcomp.exe is the only possibility.  Or am I really wrong on this and just looking for the impossible?

Thanks,

Tyle

I'm not at home ( and won't be for several weeks ) but I know I have a downloaded
"Relocatable USS Stennis", I believe the information read.  It may have been
"Nimitz" instead...not sure.

AIR, all you needed to do was enter your desired LAT/LON coordinates
into an XML file and then compile it to a BGL.

I know I placed several CVN's at different locations around the world
and have 3 of them with escort ships "steaming" out to sea off the
Golden Gate.

As a matter of fact, I uploaded a package to fs-shipyards.org that
contained the basic elements and ldetailed instructions on how to
place the ships at your desired location.

Try searching their library on my online persona...Gypsy Baron,
and see if the package comes up.

** EDIT ***

Here's info on the package you want:

CV-74 USS Stennis by Paul Clawson (cv_74.zip from flightsim.com). Relocateable aircraft carrier with wake effects.

The package I uploaded to fs-shipyards is for a CVN fixed off the Golden Gate.

Also, see this thread here:

Paul,

Nothing came up on fs-shipyards.org either by using your name or any other keywords that I tried.  And I already have the Stennis and other carriers and ships which have the files necessary to relocate them.  But perhaps I have to re-ask my question again.  Does anybody know where I can get Bglcomp.exe for fs9 and for fsx (they are two different versions, right)?  Where are they and how can I get them, because without them I am "dead in the water" (this pun is actually intended.)

Thanks,

Tyle

Go on over to fsdeveloper.com/forum/ and dig/ask around. There are lots of very
knowledgable folks there when it comes to tools and utilities.

I know that the FSX SP1 SDK update contained the latest BGLComp for FSX.

Not sure where to find the FS9 version as I've had several of them in various
directories on my machine at home ( 7,000 miles from here )
