I think its possible, heat haze is a blur, we always hear complaints of blur (We in the UK had a Tony Blur ;) thankfully a distant blur-yes I know his name). Its just a different kind and more refined blur, lets just say I do not believe it would be impossible to achieve. It would probably form part of a runway/taxiway bump map to keep it low down and not be part of the air we see around us. This way it would make it look like it was emanating from the tarmac or other surface. It would be called when the weather was a particular type maybe, much like we see different clouds in different weather formations. Maybe some feedback to the XGraphics people could produce this feature as a future update. That would be one way to implement it for those who wish it, as part of their templates, then others who don`t want it and/or run a lower powered system get to continue as they are.
Nothing in this life is impossible, you just haven`t found a way around it yet......
