I forget exaclty where you find the .cfg. It's hidden somewhere...

As for the planes, go to your FSX folder, go into "sim objects", then "aircraft/airplanes" (I forget which it is) then put in your plane folder.

The aircraft folder is found in the FSX main folder, then under simobjects there should be another folder labelled 'airplanes'. Paste the aircraft you wish to use in this folder!

Hope this helps!!!

Man I cannot find the FSX main folder.  The only one I can find is a FSX folder that only has 'logbook' in it.

The fsx.cfg is self replicating, so if you make a mistake just delete it, start FSX and it will reproduce itself-good job humans don`t do that.  It is a hidden file so you need to tell the Operating System (OS) to show all hidden and system files, its the folders option in the control panel.  Otherwise it will remain invisible.

The location varies depending on running XP or Vista, as follows......

XP: c:\Documents and Settings\name of user\AppData\Microsoft\FSX

Vista: c:\Users\name of user\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\FSX

name of user is the user name on that machine, so if its fred then insert fred.  Mine is steve so I don`t use Fred  ;)

P.S. If you "Delete" the FSX program, or parts of it, instead of "Un-Installing" it, you will have horrendous Registry problems!

I'm with Fozzer on this one.  This is the most frequently asked and the most frequently answered question.

Look in the FAQs FIRST.

Reider has given you the answer.

HOWEVER if all else fails... use the SEARCH function on XP or Vista....put a check in the Search hidden files and folders box...type in fsx.cfg, and it will be found.  In Vista it has a notepad icon....right click and Open with Notepad.

Once you've found it put a shortcut on your desktop and you will never have to ask again, or search again.

hey stubbedtoe16 if I'd realised it was you I wouldn't have come on so strong.  Sorry.

however, read the FAQ, or follow Reider's explanation .....or

if all else fails use the Search function in the way I described.

Keep asking.

Not in the case of the FSX.cfg, a .dll file simply recreates it and this does not form a part of the registry whatsoever.  Not difficult.....

I was referring to deleting random FSX, etc, Files and folders instead of un-installing the complete program....>>>>>

End Quote.

When installed correctly entries are made in the System Directory.
These will be corrupted if random Files and Folders are "deleted" at random, and an un-install will be difficult to achieve successfully.

Paul.
