I personally think that Warwick Carter's P-51 Mustang is a good freeware aircraft.

Thanks! The aquarama is an out of the box add-on, very interesting. I can't find the warwick P-51 :(

Anyways for planes, I am looking mainly for airliners. If anyone can help me install the POSKY 757-200/300, that'd be great. I've never flown one of their aircraft because I always have trouble installing them. And will the POSKY 757s work with FSX or strictly FS9?

P-51 - http://www.gjsmith.net/Textures/P-51D.htm
You didn't look to hard, there's a link to it on the main SimV page. This is designed for FS2004 but I would say it would work with X

According to the Posky website all the aircraft, except for a few panels, work with FSX.

To install 757-200: Download the aircraft effects file (Under base Packages) and if you want to use the VC, download the VC textures as well. Download the aircraft in which ever paint(s) you like (listed under each continent). This is the file that contains the aircraft.cfg, air file, model, textures, etc. All files are listed in their proper folders and the zip file can be extracted directly to the SimObjects/airplanes folder. Extract the effects and VC textures (if you downloaded it) to your desktop. On your desktop there will be two new folders, one with the effects and on with the textures. Move the effects inside the effects folder to the effects folder of FSX, and move the textures in the texture folder into the texture folder of the 757. If you want to use the VC you have to tell the sim to use the VC model. Open up the aircraft.cfg file and look for the line model=, after the = add in VC (with no space) and save

To install 757-300: Download the aircraft in the paint(s) you want. Extract them to the airplanes folder. Open the newly extracted folder and find the effects folder. Copy all files inside this folder to the effects folder of FSX. If you want to use the VC, download the VC textures from base packages and follow the instructions above.

Each zip contains a readme of what to do with the files contained in it as well

Thanks. The thing is that when I do all this, I get to the line that says "Now move the gauge file into the gauge folder". Well there is no gauge file. I look everywhere and it is nowhere to be found. That's where I get stuck. Also, I never get any sound with the planes.

No probs. Your guage file should be in the FSX root folder:

Now for the sound. I checked out the sound.cfg and saw it aliased the sound in FS9 to the default 737-400, which doesn't exist in FSX. In FSX we have the 737-800 as default. To get some sound, go into the sound folder inside the 757 folder and open the sound.cfg file. Change the alias=b737_400 to alias=B737_800.

Thanks. I was actually smart enough to figure out the sound. But what I mean is that there is no gauge file in the POSKY download. I always extract everything to the desktop. Here is a pic of what it looks like after I extract.

And in none of those folders there do I see any gauge file or gauge folder or anything that has to do with gauges. That's what I mean.

If you have a problem it helps to know the file name & where you got it so someone can check it out for you. This saves a lot of time & confusion. The point is, does the panel work or are any gauges missing?

By a simple process of deduction this appears to be a POSKY 757-200 in Icelandair livery downloaded from Avsim but I can't narrow it down more than that. It's possible the installation instructions apply to all POSKY aircraft whether they include gauges or not. The FS9 example of this aircraft I downloaded has the same installation instructions but the panel uses FS9 default gauges so none are included.

Ah! I understand now. The panels for the 757 don't have any custom gauges, they use the gauges from the default 777-300 from FS2004. So there may be a little problem there. This plane doesn't exist in FSX so there wont be any gauges in the panel. There are three options. If you have fs2004, find the 777 gauges and copy them over to FSX. I believe they are packaged in a file called B777-300.cab (someone correct me if I'm wrong) inside the gauge folder in fs2004. Copy that file over into the gauge file of FSX and it should work. The next option is finding a third party 757 panel which includes gauges or uses FSX default gauges. The last option is just aliasing the panel to another aircraft. That will fix any problems if the gauges wont show up when you're flying the aircraft.

Side note to Hagar - You dont have to guess or deduce anything here. It is already clearly defined that SubZer0 is having a hard time installing the POSKY 727-200 and -300. All the info is within the first few posts, it takes little effort to read everything before posting.
