sp1....?

Postby gypsymoth » Sat May 26, 2007 12:55 pm

If I install FSX in my new Dell XPS laptop does it (FSX) need this sp1 straight away?     Is sp1 a fix for FSX bugs?
Thanks.

if your lap top is souped up enough to run FSX you should be able to run it out of the box.

what i have noticed about SP1 is that it increases FPS about 5 to 10 FPS and it adds the birds on the thrmals. havnt played it much to figure a lot out on SP1 but you dont HAVE to get it right away.

Souped up enough?   Well, it'a 17" XPS M1710 with XP Home + SP2/Intel Core 2 CPU T7400 @ 2.16GHz 994 MHz/2.00GB Ram/NVIDIA GeForce Go 7900 GTX/88.65 GB Hard Drive.      I'm running FS9 on it with all the sliders to the right & frame rates set to 24.  It's as smooth as silk so I thought I'd try my new copy of FSX on it.      I was a bit surprised to find out about sp1 having just got FSX!

SP-1 does make the FSX experience much more enjoyable. It is not a fix for bugs so much as a fix for the settings to make the sim more compatable with todays hardware.

Thanks Richard.     I have installed FSX in the laptop followed by sp1 without   problems.   At highish settings with unlimited framerates it is quite smoot even at Seattle/Tacom with the default 747.
I'm going to post seperately about a couple of things I'm not sure about (there is a folder for a Dash8 but it doesn't show in the list of aircraft available, & the brakes on 3 aircraft I've use do not seem to work!!) but I am grateful for your encouragement to get sp1 installed!

There has been other talk about the Dash-8. I think the final answer was it is an AI aircraft.
