The 737-200 and parking spaces...

Postby bowler_man » Sat Apr 07, 2007 5:32 pm

Two questions...

1) I downloaded an American Airlines 737-200, and I noticed a large cable running from the tail to the middle of the fuselage, like in old turboprops. Someone said it is an ADF cable or something. Can I get it off my plane, I think it looks kinda dumb.

2) Some airliners are too big to spawn in some ramps or gates. Is there a way I can adjust the files or something so that I can at least spawn in those parking spaces?

I believe your source is right.  That antenna cable is part of the aircraft, and part of the model, so changing it won't be easy.

Actually changing the model is [glow=yellow,2,300]IMPOSABLE[/glow] unless you have the original source files, and most designers will not give them up easily.
As for parking space that is what AFCAD is for just change the parking spaces at the airports you want. You can edit the aircraft cfg file to make it possible to park any any place you want

Alright, cool, thats what I was looking for. What part of the .cfg file do I change to make it so I can park anywhere?

Using AFCAD to modify parking size/designations worked well with FS9 but no so with
FSX. You can use AFCAD to change size in FSX but you will most likely start running
into some other unexpected problems unless you go about it in a very structured way.

You'll need to convert6 the AFCAD to XML, along with the original airport data from
the FSX files. Edit and merge the two then recompile to a BGL.

As to designating parking spots by airline codes that worked in FS9, I believe
I read somewhere that that doesn't work in FSX.

Best to check in on one of the scenery design forums and get help from the
experts.

Wow, thank you Paul, but all that was Greek to me  :-? Thank you very much for trying though, I'm just not that experienced with file tweaking  :-[
