Micorsoft did not have any other choice but to relase a patch since FSX was ready and DX10 and VISTA were not, they did not want to delay FSX any longer so that is why the patch is needed. Of course you do not have to use the patch if you do not want to use dx10 or to take full advantage of VISTA. I for one will wait unill I can get a new mother board that will handle Vista better than my current system. My video card is Vista ready so no problem there just have to wait till they make a patch so it can use DX10. 8-)
