[quote]Hey Hagar, I understand what you are saying about the sound issue, but the creator has this acft. set up to be installed the way I explained. The acft's "sound.cfg" file has this entry....

[fltsim]
alias=SOUND\C182-RG

This explains a lot. Thanks for posting it Fireman old chap.

Those Cessna DLL files are the missing gauges which I don't have.

PS. Bob should have them though.

And Pete......I too have no VC just as in your pic.

Compared entries in the 172 and C206 as they are the same.

Ah, now we're getting somewhere. I don't think they're the correct DVC entries for this aircraft.

Edited as I just saw Bob's post. Bob, are you talking about the VC cockpit? That is what Hagar and Pete posted pics of. One's in the daytime and the other is at night.

A BIG YES

Finally figured it out. I've got the gages in the 2-d cockpit. There just isn't any in the VC mode. I guess thats just the way it is.

Thanks, Bob......Happy Flying

Ok Bob, start your flight sim up and go to settings. Hit the Customize tab and then the ACFT tab. Uncheck 3-D Virtual Cockpit and check 2-D Instrument panel.

Select the C206 and go fly. This STARTS you out in the 2D cockpit that has all the gauges. You were starting in the Virtual Cockpit that is bad for this acft.

You can still get to the VC in flight using the "Views" menu in game while in Window Mode. Views-View Mode-Cockpit and here you can select the Virtual Cockpit or the regular 2-D cockpit.

For fun, I checked the FSX C172 and it's the same dang 2-D Inst. panel and same VC. So I threw the 172's panel folders into the c206 acft folder. Same result, get the 2D cockpit but no gauges in the VC.

Checked everything else between the two acft. and the only difference I can see is in the model files. I don't mess with those as that is another area that escapes me.

The only option is to contact the author and let him know his VC no worky!

In the meantime, we can fly with the 2D cockpit.

Save a lot of messing around & use the keyboard shortcuts. F9 for VC mode & F10 for 2D panel.

You're quite right though. This update is obviously set up for the 2D cockpit.

Happy New Year chaps. :)

I haven't had time to learn keyboard shortcuts.........LOL             Holy Cow Hagar.......I am older and therefore slower than before.  ;D

At least now I know two keyboard shortcuts thanks to the all powerful Oz, I mean Hagar. But I will sleep tonight and forget them, CRAP!

Glad we got that sorted out Bob70. Enjoy flying your C206 Stationair.

And Happy New Year to all, be safe in your celebrations!

I just download this airplane to see if I was going have the problems I had with the Stationair.

FSX - Cessna L-19D (O-1D) model 305C , Bird Dog , Military version on wheels. New updated version 3.0 contains revised textures, model and Flight Dynamics for the famous light observation aircraft used by many World Air forces in the past. Two painting schemes, USAF and US ARMY included. The model, made with FSDS from ABACUS features a complete set of animations 2d and a 3d virtual cockpit and the animated pilot head. Visual Model and textures paint by Massimo Taccoli with support from Chris Coarse. Panel works by Massimo Taccoli with added gauges by Dennis Seeley who prepared also the Flight dynamics for model. 3.4MB

I'm a happy camper. It installed slick as a whistle. All the right files were in one folder. All I had to do was drag and drop it into the FSX airplane folder. One step. Why can't they all be this simple to install. Really nice little flying airplane. It is one of the models that I have in my real flying model airplane collection.

There are sooooo many variables as to why some acft. intallations have problems. Creator...how good are they, do they use default gauges or specialized ones, panel, sound, visuals etc. complexity of the acft.

When I first started in MS flight sims with CFS1, CFS2 and FS2000, I really liked the self installers too. That is until I started running into problems and finding out why.
With help of many, including Hagar, I really got to know the sims and installing things as acft., repaints, aliasing, sounds, fx., scenery and so on.

Now all my installs are manually, regardless if it comes in an auto installer. Usually I can spot a problem, if there is one, while installing the add on. If I don't spot it and see a problem when I try the new addon, I can usually find the cause of problem shortly and most times fix it.

Sometimes you can't fix them as the author forgot to include some files in the zip file.

To make a long story short, it pays dividends to learn the sim inside and out.

I still don't and NEVER will know as much as Hagar (and others).

But hell, Hagar has been messing with this stuff since the Microsoft Dinosaur Sims came out LONG ago!
