Glad to hear it works for you, but isn't an improved sim experience the reason for moving to FSX to begin with? Am I alone in finding it rather funny that many are turning most of the features down just to get a reasonable level of performance, when in fact those features are the raison-d'etre to upgrade in the first place? As has been stated before, when proper hardware becomes available at a descent price, then it will make sense to consider using FSX on a regular basis. In the meantime, happy flying!
Yes, but it is still an improved sim experience! The new ground textures alone kick FS9 on full autogen into touch, not to mention the new improved flight dynamics, sounds, flexing wings, lighting etc. etc.!
When we all have the hardware to cope properly with the new autogen then use it if you want! But until then it is just a frame rate killer! Also the autogen is only any use at very low altitudes (tree top flying). As you go higher the new ground textures actually looks much more realistic and the autogen just spoils it IMO!
On the other hand if you are an avid treetop flyer then you will not appreciate this tip, but for all other flying I'll stick with my settings for most of my flying!
I also haven't found much of an improvement if any with Ian Thatchers Autogen fix. I installed it today but am getting identical frame rates as before! Maybe just my set-up but it doesn't work for me so I will use my own tip instead!
