This may be silly ,but this also could help for those who doesn't or have been blessed by having a powerful and new machines (PCs) as I do

Due to this let just call from ,My own point of view

hmmm, never tryed that, but could it be related to any spyware or something like that that activates when you plug your cable and activates it removing resources from your pc...

anyway, I might be wrong as I don't know your system.. ;)
