FSSound.dll problem

Postby Kreeft62 » Thu Sep 24, 2009 10:59 am

Hello.

I need some help.
When i start up fs9.
The program write the following.

"Flight Simulator has detected potentially incopatible aircraft or software.
File: FSSound.dll
Do you want to load this software?
Click no to disable this software."

I noticed no difference in sound (thil now) when i load ith or not.

I removed the file FSSound.dll from the folder "modules" and replaced ith with a back up from a half year ago.
No result.

I noticed that the folowing is written in the FS9.cfg file (doc and settings/my account name/aplication data/microsoft/fs9 folder)

"[OLDMODULES]
FSSound.dll=1"

How do I get rid of that report?

Thanks

"[OLDMODULES]
FSSound.dll=1"

That entry (without the quotes) should prevent the warning message you mention when FSSound.dll is installed to FS9\Modules. There should be no need to get rid of it.

If you really wish to remove the entry simply delete it.

Hello again

Everithing back to normal.
I have removed te dll file.
Start the program. (no complaining)
The fs9.cfg file had no more old modules lines.
Shut down the program.

Replaced the dll file.
Restart the program(complaining again)
Shut down the program.

Paste the old modules lines back in the fs9.cfg file and ath the following startup everithing is ok.  :o
No more warning message.

Thanks for the help.

Just to clarify this. Even the latest version of FSSound.dll is classed as an old module. Adding that entry to FS9.cfg allows it to work in FS9 without the warning message.

You probably clicked the Yes option on the warning message after first installing FSSound.dll. Whenever you see that warning choose the No option for best results.

If you have been simming for any length of time you will have discovered that FS and/or your computer - will do some very strange things - apparently on their own.

It is not unusual for the system not to read some entries in the FS9.cfg file correctly as just one example.

It happens and we just deal with it one way or another.  :-/
