Best Flight Planner

I've tried several different flight planners and have found them to be--for the most part--unreliable and inaccurate.

What are most using as stand-alone flight planners? I need to be able to output to Squawkbox (for Ellie) and .pln (for FS9 and Radar Contact).

Thoughts?

Having played with a lot of the freeware flight planners..... and finding them all lacking in one way or another... I settled on the payware FlightSimCommander.  It has a LOT of functionality and is well supported.  It is not cheap, however.

The navigation data file is updateable via Navigraph downloads, which keeps it in "sync" with the Ellie Avionics, which also takes that data.

It works across the network my simpit is set up on, so that the flightplan located in my Ellie ND on a separate machine is updated automatically via the network...and the general FS flightplan goes to the default FS directory.

It is a complex program to learn top really use the functions.  I have just scratched the surface.

I am sure that others have other opinions on this.  Such stuff is often very subjective.

I bought Flight Sim Commander and thought is was OK.

I do have a question: we want to use a laptop for the flightplans. I have my ellie on a old computer running the glass. I have FS9 on the main computer.

Currently we installed FSC on the main computer and have it output the .sbp file directly to the ND folder on the networked computer and the .pln to the FS9 default directory.

Are you saying that you installed FSC on the networked machine that has your Ellie stuff on it? I went to put this on my laptop but it said that FS9 was required.

How can I make my flightplans on the laptop and send the info to the other places?

Hum.... I never got that message.  But I don't use the "moving map" function.... just the flight planner aspects.

The best flight planner to date in my opinion is FSNavigator. Although it is not sold anymore.
