FS Global 2008 not showing

Postby SubZer0 » Sun Mar 29, 2009 11:14 pm

Hello,

I have a problem with my mesh. I've installed FS Global 2008 for FS9 and it's now showing in the game. I simply installed it and moved it up to the top of the scenery library to see if it would show... and it's not working. Am I doing something wrong?

Did you change your FS9.cfg to use the extra detail this mesh provides?

If you haven't already done it, open up your FS9.cfg and find the heading called [Terrain]. There you should see a line that looks like this:

TERRAIN_MAX_VERTEX_LEVEL=19

Change it the 19 to 21 like this:

TERRAIN_MAX_VERTEX_LEVEL=21

Detailed mesh provides more peaks and valleys to smaller samples of terrain, but the sim by default isn't set to read them. Changing the parameter above will tell the sim to render that extra detail.

I have had FS Global installed for many years now, with no problems in my FS2004.

Looking carefully at that screen shot, and the buildings within it, it appears to be and area of "VFR Photograph Scenery" which is not a good way to appreciate the benefit of

Thank you both for the replies. I had already checked the fs9.cfg for that setting and I had previously set it to 21 and it still doesn't work. That's when I came here and decided to ask.

Paul, that is indeed the photoreal for the island of Maui in Hawai'i. But here's another picture of the area east of Seattle that shows the default mesh I believe.

This is directly east of KSEA. I just slewed the plane over... It looks like default to me.

Well I'm still thinking about your problem, but one thing you can be sure.
THAT'S NOT THE DEFAULT SCENERY. ;)

Apart from "local" areas, my only add-ons are FS Global SE 2004, to improve the default Mesh, and VOZ to modify the default Ground Texture and Colours....

....so there are no conflicts due to mixing different Scenery Meshes, in different orders during loading of the Sim...;)...!

Paul...G-BPLF...FS 2004... 8-)...!

I'm going to try a reinstall of FS Global 2008 and see if that fixes it.
