Will FS9 run without default aircraft?

Postby gypsymoth » Sun Mar 29, 2009 3:27 am

I think I read when I first joined someone being told not to remove default aircraft as FS9 would become unstable.

Yes, FS2004 will work perfectly without them as long as you don't use a default aircraft as default flight. I removed them all except for the DC3 and Piper Cub and so far I have no problems.

Crash ;)

PS better delete or rename the original AI traffic file to prevent problems and leave the guages and effects where they are...

If you "DELETE" any of the default aircraft out of FS9 it WILL cause the game to become unstable.  However.... if you just dont want them to show up in the AIRCRAFT SELECTIONS LIST.  Just turn them all into AI and you will no longer see the planes; they are still in the game; and ultimately along with your WOA you will have even more AI flying around.  (still have all the original AI, +what you just downloaded)

I do not agree with you Capt. Propwash. I've been running FS without default aircraft for the past three years without any problems. Only thing you have to take care of is that you do not lose your gauges, effects and sounds.

I do know there is one major downside to this. Some add-ons rely on default aircraft for their panels or engine sounds. These (small) problems can be resolved by downloading a different panel and soundpacket.

i stand corrected then, I appologize.  I have always heard that if you delete any of the defaults then it will cause instability.  Again, My Appologies.
