FS9 Stuck!!!

Postby pops62 » Thu Jan 15, 2009 10:33 am

I'm STUCK!!!

Cannot get fs9 to go without getting an error message on one of my aircraft...............and that very aircraft is also the default aircraft for startup.  I tried deleting the offending aircraft and re-installing in the "aircraft" folder.  Still same message.  Have tried about everything but to no avail.   Still cannot get on fs9 because of the default aircraft being the one affected.  Anyone have any ideas how I can fly my aeroplanes again???  :'(

What is the specific aircraft, and what does the error message say?

If you do not want to deal further with that, simply deleting your FS9.cfg should restore everything to the default settings, so you'll be able to start up FS with the straight-from-the-box, default flight.

Message says fs9 won't start because the testure and testure.1 are corrupt.  Aircraft is the MiG-19C by Huang I believe.  There are 2 files: clean and with tanks...........both seem to be affected.

Location of the fs9.cfg:

Windows XP : C:\Documents and Settings\[Your Username]\Application Data\Microsoft\FS9

Windows Vista : C:\Users\[Your Username]\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\FS9

Note: "Hidden files and folders" have to be disabled in order to see this file.
To do so:
Control Panel -> Folder Options -> View Tab -> Scroll down and put a bullet in "Show hidden files and folders" -> Click "Apply"

I installed the original aircraft, 'Mig19_v1.zip', and everything is ok. I would suggest installing just the original. If everything is ok, install the new texture add-ons 1 at a time, checking each one out as you go.

Added: If you're getting the error on the splash screen then you probably have saved the default flight using one of the mig repaints. If you haven't already deleted the FS9.cfg file, you can open the fs9.cfg file and look for this entry:

[USERINTERFACE]
MAP_ORIENTATION=0
PAUSE_ON_LOST_FOCUS=0
PROMPT_ON_EXIT=1
PageID=3
OpenATCOnCreate=0
SelectFlightLevel=0
SelectFlightTitle=0
DisplayFuelAsWeight=1
SITUATION=C:\Documents and Settings\dave\My Documents\Flight Simulator Files\3cu

At that time [1909] the chief engineer was almost always the chief test pilot as well. That had the fortunate result of eliminating poor engineering early in aviation.

Yep, I have a feeling that you may have either overwrote the default texture(s), or accidentally deleted the texture files in the folder.
Else, you have a corrupt unzipping program.

The location of your FS9.cfg:

:\Documents and Settings\\Application Data\Microsoft\FS9\FS9.CFG

I tried completely removing the mig-19v1 and all tex files associated and just reloaded a new mig-19v1 file into my aircraft file and still have the same problem.

Have to go now, but I'll just say that it sounds like your unzipping software has become corrupted.

open up your FS9 folder, go to flights, click on other and choose one of those default flights.

Actually click on FLTSIM.FLT or MEIGS.FLT the sim SHOULD start with
whichever one you choose. Go from there, but I would give up on the plane that caused the problem. Delete it COMPLETELY!
