ATC Aircraft Identification

ATC refers to my downloaded aircraft as "Experimental". Can this be changed? :-?

Yep, under the GENERAL section of the aircraft.cfg, which should be directly below the section for liveries, there should be the following two lines:
[General]
atc_type=
atc_model=

...etc.

If your section does not have these lines, you can add them with no problems, and then try various entries to suite whatever aircraft your flying. Unless you are using EditVoicePack, the default MS list is limited when it comes to more exotic types, but feel free to experiment, there are more built in voice idents than you may think.

Here's an example of what can be found in one of my aicraft:

atc_model=Tu154

Sean, I found the [General] section near the bottom of the cfg. Ignore my previous question, and I'll get back with my results.

Looks like Alphasim decided to make things difficult and didnt put that section in the standard spot, it is there however, just search for it. It looks like this:

So far, so good. I am working on several aircraft: Mustang, Harvard, Spitfire, Mosquito and T33a. ATC recognizes Supermarine for the Spitfire and deHavilland for the Mosquito. Doesn't recognize North American for the Mustang and Harvard. Havn't tried the T-33a yet. But I'm getting the hang of cfg. Tks.

Tks. Dave. Went and explored the site. Found a possible solution to a missing piece to the puzzle. There is a section which deals with Airline names, one of which is "Air Force". Since FS2004 doesn't recognize "North American" as a manufacturer, I tried, without success, to designate the aircraft as belonging to an airline called "Air Force" by inserting "Air Force" into the cfg file on the line "atc_airline=". That didn't work. Is there more to generating the airline name than just inserting it into the cfg file as I have done? :-?

AIR FORCE and NORTH AMERICAN are both recognized by default ATC airline list.
