Downloading aircraft - AlphaSim

Postby JJH » Tue Jan 06, 2009 4:12 pm

I've just downloaded, from Simviation, 2 aircraft provided by AlphaSim - Spitfire Mk8/9 and Mustang P51D. Everything seems to be in order except that, in the cockpit view, in both cases, most of the switches and levers (starter, landing gear, flaps etc) are not interactive with the mouse, only to keyboard commands. I don't know if this is by design or I've neglected to do something. Can anyone enlighten me?

Not sure why you posted this in the AI forum. It would also help if you provide links to where these files are posted. Without checking them out I suspect that these aircraft either don't have a full panel or are missing some gauges.

They are both posted on Simviation Downloads - FS2004 - Vintage - Page 98, "FS2004 North American P51-D Mustang" and "FS2005 Supermarine Spitfire Mk.VIII and Mk.IX Package".

Where is the proper place to post queries of this type? :-?

OK. I'll check them out later.

From your recent posts I would say the FS2004 forum. ;)

I've had a quick test flight of both. I must say these are excellent quality which they should be as they're some of Alpha's older payware files.

You're quite right that some of the functions aren't clickable. That wouldn't bother me as I generally use the keyboard for things like gear & flaps. The throttle, mixture & prop controls are on pop-up windows on the 2D panels (Shift  + 4). The Mustang also has functional throttle, mixture, flap & gear levers on the left side of the DVC. These can be operated with the mouse but appear to be a tad quirky on my system.

As per your comments, I found the switches etc you referred to, but they are not convenient to use so I will also use the keyboard. Thanks for the comments and time. They are much appreciated.
