Posky 74-SP nose wheel

Postby Yuey » Sun Nov 16, 2008 6:33 pm

I have two problems with this a/c.

1. Loading a/c to begin schedule it does that little bounce at the gate sometimes and then collapses the nose wheel resulting in a 'crash' and have to reset flight. Probably a graphics card issue I think.

2. After take off and raising the gear the nose wheel sometimes remains down. It of course is not down according to readout. Again probably a graphic card issue.

I love this aircraft and all the Posky's by the way!

I am going to buy a new computer soon but most everything runs okay on the junk I am using..lol !

Hi Yuey...well; mine does that bounce but as yet I haven't had a crash..........and the gear is a little slow to respond. I think it just needs a little tweak here and there in the aircraft, cfg but that's probably all.........not a card issue I don't think as I still only have the old Radeon 9200 and that never was the best of cards ;D

A bit busy just now but if nobody else answers I'll try and look at it....commoner ;)

This has been an issue with the Posky 747s. I think that there's an FDE update at the Posky site that should sort it out.

Yeah be sure that you have the FDE updates that are available on the POSKY download page.

Also check your weight and balance to see that you aren't trying to take off too heavy ;)

No problem with the loading manifest/weights and I will have to check out the download for Posky's as advised hope it's not too big as can only d/l at 2.4 kps with a shakey connection from my palm tree :)

Thanks to all for replying if I can't find the download I will come back again to ask for the link.

I've had this problem on a number of aircraft. I think I read somewhere FS9 tends to have holes/discontinuities in taxiway and runway surfaces that "trip up" your aircraft and damage the gear. I certainly find it tends to happen at the same places at airports I use a lot.

Anyways, the workround I found is to "stiffen up" the suspension of my gear. In the aircraft.cfg you'll find a section "[contact_points]". It usually has a key comment like this:

Here is the contact points section that worsk for me....it lifts the nose wheel up a little and stops most of the bounce.....it also speeds up the retraction and extension times for the u/c.......make a back up copy of the Aircraft.cfg and then change your points section for mine.....

It all works for me ok.........best of luck ..commoner ;D

Thanks for the updates on these specs guys. I'll put up a trial on these and go for it tonight on my Perth - Hong Kong run.

There aren't too many bugs in FS9 itself which is pretty bloody amazing really in respect of my dinosaurus computorus equipment. However updating to something flashier during Christmas hol's in NZ.

Thanks again team!
Regards Yuey

ps. I downloaded the FDE 747 suite from Posky but there were no files in the 747-SP folder! However it's a great site and set of hangars of course.

Thanks Commoner you're a genius.

I figured out it was Yuey computer pilot error on transferring 'cut & paste' the folder while I still had it open on the task bar. It 'fragged' the files.......Nevermind I inserted your data and no wheel down when flying, slightly deeper on the tarmac and a little more power required to gain taxi turn is all I noticed, great flight....didn't make it though as the power crashed in Lae with a bit of monsoon rain hehe. (generator kicked in too slow) Trying again tonight though, great stuff.

Everyone should try flying over here in PNG it's quite an enjoyable nightmare lol!
