Yes, Hagar, that is the little brown box about which I speak. How do I get back to the earlier icon of the blue pages like you see when you open a file with Notepad? Is it really all that important? I see periodic references to changing the .air file. I also see that it is best left to the professionals. What exactly is in the .air file? What effect does what's in there have on how the model behaves?

The easiest way to revert to the original icon would be to uninstall Adobe AIR from Start/Settings/Control Panel/Add or Remove Programs. However, if it was the Notepad icon there would be no point as you cannot edit FS AIR files in a text editor or any default Windows program. It will do no harm to leave it as it is. AIR file editing has always been a black art to me. It was more important back in the days of FS98 & CFS1. Most FD editing can be done in Aircraft.cfg these days.

...mmm...I once opened AirEd and under the Special heading is an entry "Set AirEd for air files".........wondering what it was I clicked on it and since then all my .air files have the Air Ed icon and double clicking on it opens AirEd ..... commoner

I must try that commoner. However, I don't see the point of changing anything unless homebrewer intends editing AIR files. About the only thing I use an AIR file editor for is removing AI drones from the selection menu.

I've uninstalled Adobe AIR as I can see no use for it in the immediate future.

commoner,

I used the file you sent and I liked it. It was definitely better than the original. Then got adventurous and swiped the prop texture from the Extra, I think it was. It had a different name and was not shown in the texture folder as a bmp. I just renamed it to have the same name as the original file, and it worked. In the original, the props were 99% invisible. Behold the new result:

Thanks! Next time I have a question, I'll seek your sage advice first.
