3 random questions, please help

Postby amaru » Thu Aug 21, 2008 6:34 am

1) how do you perform an ILS landing on a runway that has no ILS frequency? examples of runways of airports with no ILS frequency are Doha Intl (OTBD) and Bahrain Intl (OBBI), which have one runway with ILS frequency and complementary side without!

2) how do you create a flight plan with a stopover all flight route being IFR without needing to go to main menu or pausing the game to create a new flight plan? For example IFR route from Rome to London Heathrow
with a stop-over in milan.

3) I downloaded posky's ERJ-145 aircraft but the buttons of the radio in the Learjet panel that come with it don't work so I cannot input different codes to the radio (when needed for landing). any idea?

any help would be appreciated, thanks

1. Add the ILS, or land VFR
2. Don't think you can, I searched for this also! I think you just fly the first leg and after the layover in the atc window it allows you to create a new plan, but it still takes you to the menu.
3. I'm sure a panel expert can answer this one, but in the mean time I would just use the digit keys for the ATC window( or as a nice panel alternative to the digit keys is this wonderful gauge by Nick Pike & Dave Marshall: ATC DIGIT:http://www.avsim.com/ search Dave Marshall in the libray, it's like the 8th one down!

Hope some of this helps! ;)

RE: Question 3.  Check the radios section in the aircraft config.  It should read as follows:

[RADIOS]
// Radio Type=avail?,sby freq?,glide slope?
Audio.1= 1
Com.1  = 1, 0
Com.2  = 1, 0
Nav.1  = 1, 0, 1
Nav.2  = 1, 0, 0
Adf.1  = 1
Transponder.1= 1
Marker.1= 0

Those settings will allow you to tune any frequency you wish.

In the case of (1) when I dial in the ILS Frequency as I approach the Runway and find that my Plane is being turned around, I quickly press the (Rev), Back Course, button on the radio...
...so the buttons read; Ap-Hdg-Apr-Rev-Alt...

It corrects my flight path, but if left on it will set me down on the far end of the runway! so it must be cancelled at the last minute and the rest of the landing carried out manually....!

FS Navigator often shows "incorrectly" ILS Glide Slope at BOTH ends of the runway using the same frequency...confusion.... :o...!

The FS 2004 Map is more correct in displaying the correct ILS Glide Slope for each runway...;)...!

Pail...G-BPLF... 8-)...!

P.S. If the runway does not have an ILS  Localiser and Glide Slope then the landing must me made manually...noting the wind strength and direction... :)...!

...not many Farmers grass runways are equipped with Localisers and Glide Slopes....just grazing Sheep... ;D...!

Glenn Copeland has written a great Satellite-Assisted Landing System gauge (salsv9.zip, at A***m) which will give you ILS-type pseudo-localizer and glideslope assistance, but will not guide you down on the approach, you have to do that yourself. Not difficult with a little practice.
