Private Pilot Test

What is the trick to getting past the steep turn part of the Private Pilot Test? I know that I have successfully executed the requisite steep turn and the examiner always stops the test with too shallow a bank, too high a speed, or some other failure and I am getting sick of it.

The built in lessons are rather strange when you fly them. Unless you have absolute precision with zero degrees of error in any aspect, the examiner seems to end the flight.

The textual portion of the lessons are valuable though, so I would read up on all of the information the sim gives you, and simply practice on your own, away from the scripted scenario.  ;)

I've been warning people away from the lessons in FS9 for years- the theory is all there, but there's something screwy about how the AI behaves.

Don't worry about the silly little certificate; even in real life it doesn't mean you have it all down cold. ;)

As Sean said, you're best off learning the gist of the maneuvers, then practicing on your own. How do you know when you've done a steep turn right? Constant bank, constant altitude, and the ball at least touching one of the lines. Passing the checkride doesn't teach you that- you have to practice.

The steep turn are very hard. I have a Saitek yoke and they were even hard for me with a yoke. One thing is you have to stay ahead of the aircraft. Youll get through it. After that you go into IFR  ::).
