Turboprop Question

Postby alb469 » Sun May 04, 2008 9:49 am

I am using both fsx and fs9. I have noticed that in fsx turboprops on autothrottle run smoothly with no surging and constant throttles but not in fs9. To check I moved 2 turboprops an l188 and the yc121 to fs9 that worked fine in fsx but the same old problems with engines surging in fs9. What did M$ do in fsx to cure it? and can we do the same in fs9.Having tried both I find I prefer fs9.It is much faster than x and my computer is just not good enough to speed up x. To me the little bit you gain in graphics is not worth the loss in speed. :o

There are quite a few, subtle changes to the flight model in FSX. Most notably are the way turbulence happens, and ground-effect dynamics. I never flew turbo-props enough to notice what you've mentioned, but it sounds like another, subtle improvement. Since you've swapped planes, we know it's not in an individual air file , or aircraft.cfg file (there are many parameters to the autopilot).. It's gotta be in the sim's flight model, that effects all airplanes... probably not tune-able.
