Find out what your screens native resolution is, then run that.

For the first time ever I have upped my screen resolution from 1024 X 768 X 32... TO... 1280 X 960 X 32....

...and I'm slowly getting used to the tiny Text size... with the aid of my trusty, new spectacles....:'(...!

...mind you...

It STILL doesn't cure my problem of having to (annoyingly!) scroll "Screen Shots" sideways to view the while picture!...Arrggghhh.... >:(...!

...which is why I ALWAYS post my Screen Shots/Photographs at a maximum of 700 Pixels wide, to suit EVERYONE...whatever their screen resolution!....;)...!

Paul....Peering at the screen with a magnifying glass... :o...!

@Fozzer:
Yeah I was in the same boat as you till I found this:

http://www.gadwin.com/download/ps_setup.exe - (v4.3 is freeware)

You can set it up to save a screenshot in any size you want, also what file type, in any folder you specify, just by pressing PrintScreen or any shortcut key you want, and it also works in any game or application. ;)

Hello Joe...

Grab-Clip-Save...stores our Screen Shots...>>>>

http://www.simviation.com/fsdtutscreensh.htm

Most of us use "Irfanview" for editing our Screen Shots/Photographs....

http://www.irfanview-stop.com/index.asp ... =irfanview

..the problem is...with our "new" Forum, a resolution of 800 X 600 or greater involves me/us having to scroll the screen sideways to view Members Screen Shots/Photographs....!

The increased Border size of the new Forum restricts the width of the "shots"

..which is why I always re-size my Screen Shots/ Photographs to a max of 700 pixels wide to avoid the problem in the "new" Forum!

The quality will not be quite as good....but...no scrolling is involved for any resolution over the standard res of 1024 X 768...;)...!

Paul...G-BPLF... 8-)...!

ahhh, I get you, sorry I did not quite understand.
Yes I agree on just resizing as most pics on a forum is to illustrate a particular point and should not be seen as a type of quality.... but you always get the smart alec who spams your thread about something that has nothing to do with the pic in the first place ;D

...never fear, Joe...

The time to get embarrassed is when your pride and joy is shorter/less than Sonic's at "20 Inches".... :'(...!

If so, welcome to the Club!...;)...!

All I can suggest is to start at the display's native res (and an appropriate refresh frequency) and see if you like that. Usually, the native res at a medium or default frequency looks the best... but it's subjective.

If you are undecided, would you decide which looks best based on how others set their displays? ;)

My favourite Resolution is, and always has been in the past, 1024 X 768 X 32 for a suitable text size, my general use, and various Computer Games I play.
What annoys me now, to the point of avoiding Sim V Screen Shots/Photograps altogether, is the recommended resolution of the Screen Shots and Photographs which now involves having to scroll the Screen horizontally to view the complete picture!

Life is too short for all this sliding around!

In the Previous YaBB Forum, the recommended max width of 800 Pixels was fine.
Now even 800 Pixels width requires scrolling the screen, and having to "View" the individual Images one at a time, is no fun!.

The majority of Sites seem to restrict the images to 800 Pixels wide, or less, which fit the page nicely with a standard resolution of 1024 X 768....
