KBOS v2 crashes g3d.dll

Postby ThomasKaira » Sat Mar 22, 2008 1:58 am

Currently running George Grimshaw's Boston Logan intl with AES active, and it is for this reason that I cannot fly into Boston right now:

I enter KBOS airspace, FS2004 Black-screen-of-death, FS9 encountered a problem and needs to close, error report details show failed Applet as g3d.dll.

What I understand so far:

g3d.dll is the 3d graphics module, and apparantly, fs9's attempt to load KBOS caused the g3d module to overload and and terminate itself, thus taking fs9 with it.

Perhaps the sim is trying to load too much at once than it can handle? This seems to be the problem, so how would I go about fixing this?

Have you tried removing the scenery from the scenery library? Then fly to  KBOS to check it is definately the the scenery that is the problem...

I flew out of Dallas, and flew over NYC and JFK (all default) . FS handled that perfectly, and the 3d scenery for them is just as complex as default Boston.

Note: This only seems to occur in complicated airplanes, like the PMDG 737.

JetRanger,

I run Grimshaw's KBOS with AES running (I live 50 miles ATCF from it) and I do not get that particular crash.

If I remember correctly g3d.dll causes problems with AES.

http://www.forum.aerosoft.com/viewtopic.php?t=14978 should answer some of your questions.

But I suppose the most simple thing is: have you got the most recent version of AES?

very interesting analysis...

I did manage to ALMOST (computer randomly restarted thanks to my "new" faulty motherboard, details will be posted shortly in hardware forum) complete a pond-hop in my 747 (PMDG) out of KBOS, no FS crashes except at the very end when I went to access the map (Unable to read from file, followed by termination, and a system restart).

Like I said, details in hardware forum.

That sounds like a hard drive on the way out.

best,

Does not seem likely, the problems I'm having are driver conflicts at this point, as my system only crashes, at random, when playing FS9 or any other game. If my HDD were giving way, then the incident would be much less isolated.

Plus, I have two hard disks in my computer at this point.

Follow the link in my sig for the error details.
