Postby MCAntonio aka AN21 » Fri Dec 28, 2007 5:30 pm

Now I have this problem..When I start FS2004 I get a message from FS saying that it encountered a problem blah blah...The problem is the MAIN.dll file from what the report says..Any ideas? Oh and sorry that I am bothering you with my problems but...

Well I just looked through all of the install cd,s and no luck the file MAIN.DLL must be built when you first run FS so it looks like the only ways you can put it back will be to either uninstall and reinstall which I know is a pain in the ask me no questions  ::) or you might be able to use a copy from someone else but I am not sure if that will work correctly for you. 8-)

Is it possible to find the file on the net?

Install the FS9.1 update if you haven't, or re-install it if you have. This contains a version on MAIN.DLL, and should replace your faulty one with a correct one ;)

Here is a link to the patch if you don't have it:
http://download.microsoft.com/download/ ... s91upd.exe

If that link does not work, try this one:
http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/deta ... layLang=en

If reinstalling the update doesn't work, the only thing I could suggest is a complete re-install :(

That won't work, as it involves ripping the main.dll file from the cd (FS98), whereas FS2004 does not have a main.dll file on it :(

FORGET IT! >:( I have to reinstall it. When it reaches TRAFFIC.dll it says that the update cant be installed succesfully. Its the second time I have to reinstall FS...Hard to imagine that yesterday everything was running perfectly. :'( I feel sick when I am thinking all the add ons I have to download again....

Why not back-up your add-on scenery folder before re-installing? That way you can just copy everything over again with re-downloading (unless it was an add-on that cause the problem of course ;))

Have you installed any traffic recently (such as WoAI or PAI etc.), because if your traffic.dll module will not update, it makes me think that it may be the problem module, which is affecting the main.dll module
