Little help for a new guy

Postby FOX2PRO » Wed Nov 07, 2007 10:13 pm

I just started using FS2004, and I'm having trouble maneuvering on the ground. I can never find the right taxiway, and i can rarely find my assigned gate. Are there some ingame tools, or an guide to airport operations? I have looked at the learning center, and it didn't help. Any help would be appreciated.

Welcome to the world of Flight Simulation.

At the ATC popup box there should be an option to select Progressive Taxi after you have received taxi clearance. This option will draw a purple dotted line from your current location to the announced gate or parking. Just follow the line and when reached the destination the line will disappear and you are at your gate or parking. ;)

All and all both options work. Glad you found it and no need to feel like an idiot. ;)

i've seen screenshots with supply trucks, and gates that move to the aircraft. are these included with the game, or are they third party? Where can I get them?

Most likely FSX as it has that function. There is a payware addon though for FS9 that has the moving stuff for some large airports but I keep forgetting the name. Default FS9 doesn't have moving stuff at airports. ;)

If memory serves, most "CamSim" aircraft (freeware) have animated service vehicles. There are no default animated services or gates in FS9 though.
