ORBX is under the VOZ 1.5 on the VOZ website :D

So it is ::) I was under the impression that was in reference to what is written below it: VOZ FSX Scenery Series Coming in 2007. Silly me ran my mouse over it and a link appeared. Downloading to check it out.

While I'm thinking about it, VOZ includes VOZ Flights which you'll find under Select a Flight in FS9. Also look for Koorbie Clouds under Weather.

I googled Xtra Water and found this: http://www.fsfield.com/viewfile/1391.html :

If you have voz, the textures may not show up correctly. Xtra Water was made using default textures from fs9. If you have VOZ they may not look the same because voz changes textures xtra water does not have. It may look better or worse. We haven't tested it.

It does look nice though! What you might do is back up your water textures before trying it out.

Edit: I try downloading the ORBX file. Got a Winzip error that it can't open the file: It does not appear to be a valid archive.

My preferred setup for the FS environment is:

dedicated mesh and scenery for the areas I fly mostly in
Waterzone
Soft Horizons (which does a great job of dealing with the artificial line between land/sae and sky in teh distance - available at flightsim.com)
Default clouds - but converted to DXT3 from 32 bit to speed up frame rate. (Make sure you have 'render to texture' ticked in the hardware options)

Nothing costs much there ...

Flight Environment takes care of sky and water, Ground Environmentdoesthe ground. You don't really need any other textures.

Voz is great if you want to fly in Australia though.

Mesh is critical, get all the high definition mesh you can and alter your FS9.cfg LOD level to 19, 20 or 21 (see the mesh read me) so you can actually see it. Do  the other cfg tweaks - might be in the Studio V tutorials section, ask if you can't find them.

Landclass is very important too - the download files are small and quick, but they can add a lot of realism to your sim.

When you take screenshots, lower the visibility level to 30km or so - the horizon will disappear and you'll have more realistic skies.

Download and buy tons of add-ons. Spend loads of money and time. Oh, buy Walk and Follow, it makes a real difference - easy to use, great angles...

Cheers

Ok i have decided to go Full Freeware (Except FRAPS and W&F of course)

What is the best setup for all round world?

I know i am getting all the VOZ stuff and the Australia SRTM mesh.

I would like to know what are the best Sky textures and Ground textures/mesh for the whole world? Also some great photoreal scenery.
I might get some small payware stuff like planes and individual airports like EGLL and KLAX etc...

as far as small airport paware add ons go, try the FlyTampa series. They have amazing detail and very little impact on performance.

I have been enjoying VOZ 1.3 for a couple of years now, together with the lovely colourful Koorbygen buildings.

For my realistic "Californian" textures, I pre-select VOZ "Northern Territory", and it works a treat!

F...(I love Koorbygen!).... 8-)...!

Note: The various VOZ Textures are suitable for exploring most areas in the World!...;)...!
