Duplicate AI

Postby Zaphod » Wed Jul 25, 2007 11:14 am

Hi Guys and Gals.
First of all let me say that I know this has come up before but a search did not answer my question :)
For some time now I have been suffering from duplicate AI. Two aircraft with the same designation flying closely together. I know I may have added some AI traffic in the past which may have caused this to happen, but it would have been a long time ago, and I've slept since then ;D
My question is; how can I stop this from happening?

It's not a biggie but it is annoying.

Any help, as always much appreciated.

Zaphod.

If you know what AI packs you have installed that could be causing this, download TTools, and decompile one of the .bgl's that is causing the problem.

One thing that could be a problem however, is if you have installed 2 'packs' ie. ones with more than one airline, and these packs contain AI data for the same airline, so to get rid of one you will have to get rid of one whole pack, and not just the problem airline.

What AI programmes have you used?

All the best,
Alex

Hi Alex. Thanks for the prompt reply.
To be honest it would have been quite a while ago and the memory isn't what it was ;D
I think some of the AI may have come with a scenery download, but I'm not sure. I also must have downloaded some other airline liveries for AI because I have far more than the default. Is there a specific folder that I can look in to try and make sence of my AI?

Cheers.

:D  I'm afraid your going to have to do what I did.  I had the same problem and had to review everyone of my traffic tools created flight plans and look for duplicate entries.  If you don't have that many, I rescheduled my arrival and departure times so they were all different.  Very time consuming. :(

uncleyuk is partly right, that would be folder in which to look, but the file isn't always simply called traffic. It should start with the word traffic. eg. Traffic_BAW.

Unfortunately, the name will not always correspond to the traffic file, but do have a look and post back telling us what you see!

All the best,
Alex

Again, thanks for the prompt replies.

I think my problem may be with one of the following files;

traffic030528.bgl
traffic030528.original
traffic_EUR.bgl.

I have other traffic files but I think I know what they do and are not the problem.

What am I looking at when I open the files with ttools?

What airline are you having the duplicate flights with?

The traffic030528.bgl is the name of the default traffic file, and I presume by the presence of the traffic030528.original file that this has been replaced by a traffic file including real-world airlines.

The Traffic_EUR is most likely a 'pack' including many airliners.

I would guess this might be the pack installed with the scenery, what scenery was it?

All the best,
Alex

Thanks Alex.
Yes I think the traffic_EUR may be the cause of my problem. I have de-compiled it with Ttools and it seems to include all of the aircraft with which I have a problem. It's not associated with just one airline.

I suppose I need to compare the entries in traffic_EUR with traffic030528.bgl to see the duplicates?

Seems like a lot of work.

Best.

Yeah, unfortunately it is  :-[
The other option would to be do simply move these 2 .bgl's to a seperate folder, remove the AI aircraft from the aircraft folder, and start installing AI again using packs such as WoAI and Project AI, that way single airlines will be compiled, and you will have more control over them, also, the files will be more up to date  :)

All the best,
Alex

;DWell, perhaps if I get an odd day or so to devote to this I may sort it out. At least now I know where to start!

Thanks again for the help.

Traffic_EUR contains most of the European flights and causes quite alot of duplictions.  For example what you need to do is to decompile it and examine the flightplans.txt and make the necessary corrections.
you will find many Easyjet flights go the Heathrow!!!! Change EGLL to EGGW save and recompile. Do this for other airlines and add your own files with real timetables.

It's a lengthy business with ttools but it won't let you make any mistakes. Just remember to adjust the traffice density percentage to you liking, otherwise if it's set too high you may not see the fruits ofyour labours.
