FS crashing problem

Postby fluffybunny » Thu Dec 14, 2006 3:02 pm

Hello Everyone,
I haven't done a search yet but I think this is a very unique problem.

I had fs9 installed running great had a few ad ons and stuff, it was working great.  I uninstalled it to install FSX, turns out my computer cant play FSX well, so I uninstalled it, and reinstalled FS9.  It worked fine for a bit, then I installed a few ad ons, one of them went bad, so I uninstalled the whole game and reinstalled it.  As soon as I try and fly after a fresh clean install, it crashes when I click fly now from the create a flight screen.  I tried uinstalling it reinstalling it agian, still didnt work.  I tried restarting then reinstalling it, I have deleted the files, the registration files, everything.  I have done everything short of reformating my computer.  Any advice on how to fix this would be appreciated.

I would suggest the following after uninstalling FS9 delte the entire folder as the uninstall will not remove it. If you wish not to remove the old folder than rename the folder to some other name so when you reinstall fs9 it makes a fresh folder. Then make sure you delete the fs9cfg file.BEFORE YOU TRY TO RUN THE NEW INSTALL The fs9 cfg file is what 9 times out of ten will cause problems as the uninstall will not remove it so when you reinstall fs9 and try to run it you wind up using the old fs9 cfg file and because it is usually different than the fresh install of fs9 it will crash. 8-)

I'll post on my buddy's behalf here.

He figured out the problem, It was an A380 Addon that was causing the problem. Everything is fixed now  :)
