Global Terrain Mesh Scenery

Is the GTMS gone for good? It's been offline for months now.

I've got the same "problem"... I really wish it would come back online in some way (filesharing included).

As an alternative take a look at FSProject's freeware mesh.

Like GTMS, it provides world coverage at 76m. In addition there is 38m coverage for many areas including GB/Europe, USA, and BC. Also 19m coverage for western USA (Rockies to west coast) and the Alps.

At that time [1909] the chief engineer was almost always the chief test pilot as well. That had the fortunate result of eliminating poor engineering early in aviation.

When I only had a Dial-up connection I quickly realised that I could never download the whole scenery set in one go, so I purchased.....

"FS Global Special Edition" from JustFlight...>>>

http://www.justflight.com/product.asp?pid=39

..and I imagine it would take FOREVER to download Stephens whole set, even on Broadband....!

Live is much too short either way...;)...!

Problem solved for the princely sum of
Win 8.1 64-bit. DX11. Advent Tower. Intel i7-3770 3.9 GHz 8-core. 8 GB System RAM. AMD Radeon HD 7700 1GB RAM. DVD ROM. 2 Terra Byte SATA Hard Drive. Philips 17" LCD Monitor. Saitek Cyborg X Fly-5 Joystick. ...and a Briggs and Stratton Petrol Lawn Mower.

Hi dave...Just got the UK area and it looks super.........no doubt about it...the only thing I would say is that the areas are too big...huge downloads in some cases well over 200MB.......ok with fast broadband but impossible otherwise.............love it.........commoner ;)

With reference to Just Flight's FS Global SE scenery mesh,
an interesting bit of information from Just Flight...
...Compatibility...>>>

**********************
FS Terrain and FS Global SE (For FS2004)

As the default mesh in FSX is of the same LOD (level of detail) as these titles, they are now redundant in FSX.
**********************

Presumably this also applies to Steve's SRTM scenery files with reference to FSX...?

Cheers all... ;D...!

Paul.... 8)...!
