Default flight

Postby Marlin » Thu Mar 09, 2006 4:41 am

I have a question for you. When you save your flight there is a box at the bottom that you can check and it says default flight.

Now to the best of my knowledge this is supposed to load 'that' flight instead of choosing a flight when I load FS9, correct?

If this is the case, how do I fix mine so that it will load 'that' flight, instead of having to select the flight that I want? There is no difference if I check the box or not. I think that it went astray when I started using the Flight Sim Manager program, that was a long time ago.

I've seen this problem mentioned here before but I've never run into it myself. It might depend on where you're saving that flight from. Try it from the Menu Bar in the sim rather than the Startup menu - Flights/Save Flight.

Hi Marlin....Create your flight you want then click save flight......a screen will open to let you give your flight a name and a description if you wish......check the box "make this the default flight" and click OK ...then before closing the sim click FLY NOW. That's important.....commoner

Another way to do this is after you have saved your flight and gave it a name you can allways edit your fs9 cfg file just look for the line that describes your start up flight and subsitutue the new file for the old one. But the way commoneer described it is the easiest way to do this.

Thanks all, but none of the advice worked.

This is what the cfg says. Is this what I have to change? Add the flight name in there somewhere, for example make it LOADWINDOW=Marlin

[STARTUP]
DEMO=0
LOADSIM=1
LOADWINDOW=1
SHOW_OPENING_SCREEN=1
STARTUP_DEMO=

Hi Marlin.....mmm..... I feel sure if you followed the instructions it will work but ne'er mind.......

NO That is not the part of the Fs9.cfg that you have to change..........look for this line..........

.... SITUATION=C:\Documents and Settings\Owner\My Documents\Flight Simulator Files\My Default  and type in the name of the flight you want EXACTLY as you saved it instead of as in this case..   My Default   It has to be just as you saved it or you will get an error and the sim will load the FS9 default flight.  Say Yes to save the changes.

By the way when you get it going, if you wish to go straight to the flight instead of the select screen you can change the 1 to a 0 in the line...

SHOW_OPENING_SCREEN=1

This IS in the part you posted...........hope this helps......

Yeesssss Commoner, there we go. Thanks.

Now when I click on the shortcut that is on the desktop it loads the flight right where I left it last. ahhhhh

It's amazing what changing the on off switch does  ;D The Situation setting was correct by the way.

Many thanks once again,
