Strange Terrain

Postby cdn_beaver » Sat Feb 25, 2006 2:37 pm

Hello,

If anybody has alittle spare time, I was wondering if they could fly into an airport for me and tell me if the terrain for that airport is correct on their computer.

The airport in question is Revelstoke, British Columbia, Canada, Airport code CYRV.

The water textures follow the ground elevation changes, and I feel like moses separating the sea as I land there.  I should take a screen shot...

Anyway, thanks for your time and help.
Cheers,
Mark

I just flew out of Revelstoke in FS2002.  Terrain looks OK.  I did see a water level anomaly in a river near there, but nothing else major.  In my extensive flying in FS2002 and some in FS2004 (which I've temporarily uninstalled), I have come across terrain and water anomalies where the water sometimes follows or goes up the terrain instead of staying level.  Keep in mind that the entire planet is mapped; there are some errors here and there.  More specifics would be of further help.

Hey, you should feel proud of having such an error. It's fun to fly up walls of water, fly against the invisible wall at the poles, out climb the tall spire, dive into bottomless pits, doing tricks in huge holes big enough to swallow the Pyramids of Giza, etc. ;D

Thanks for the replies.  I definitely have no complaints.  Its kinda fun, and adds new challenges to the usual flying.  Im kinda glad I didnt find this in the dark...

Thanks again for the help.

Hi cdn_beaver,

Nice find, you might want to have a look here for a good list of other terrain glitches (although, these are in FS9) - they make for some interesting flying.

Cheers,

TSC.

I can't even look at that one in Washington, every time I get close my FS9 crashes!  The others are kind of interesting to explore.
