Put simply, no...FS9 does not go higher than 99,999ft... ;)

Heya,

To my knowledge there's no way to increase the FS 2004 maximum game altitude limit of 99,999 ft.  If there is, I'd like to know about it.  Then I could resurrect an ancient Microsoft Game called Microsoft Space Simulator!

Or maybe Buzz Aldrin's Race to Space?

Sorry; the upper limit's hard-coded on all the FS and CFS sims. Trust me on this; I've tried. :D

If you want ot go higher; I reccommend Orbiter.

Or maybe Buzz Aldrin's Race to Space?

Hey - I remember BARIS! That was a great game! ;D

The reason the limit is 99,999 (or 100,000 ft) is that the FS world is not a true sphere.  When FS was being redesigned (FS7?  FS8?) it was created as a cylinder, making scenery placement less of an issue: it's easier to place objects on a flat plane than a curved one.

So the designers have limited the height to 100,000 ft because any higher and the world begins to look like the cylinder it is.

Maybe they'll have it fixed in a few years . . . ::)

Yeah, and maybe we'll all learn to fly for real, like featherless birds, only waving our arms. >:(

As days go by I'm finding less and less satisfied with the absurd limitations of FS. :(

The time is come for me to migrate on X-plane, perhaps? :-/

Migrate to Xplane, I know for sure that im staying with flight simulator, as many others with me.
Flight simulator does not have the alias Space simulator.
But if you so must, try Laminar Research's creation. For all I care Flight Simulator is more graphically intense and hence a more immersive, realistic flight simulator. Have you ever seen Xplane visually?  ;D

I already tried the demo of X-plane, that's because I'm really getting unsatisfied with FS limitations. True, X-plane's graphics are less than FS9 (but better than FS2000 anyway). But for me, an IFR man, it could be a lesser problem.

But the behaviour of the planes, both on air and ground, the impressive gauges and their impossible-to-compare-with-FS9 fluidity, the even better-than-in-FS9 weather, the sloped runways that can be either uniformely or patchy wet, and all the other things...

:( :( :( :( :(
