A way to increase your framerates...perhaps

Postby wealthysoup » Thu Aug 18, 2005 4:36 pm

I was looking today on surclaro (www.surclaro.com) and found a file called FPS_Patch_FS9.zip It goes in your autogen folder instead of the default one included with fs9 and as the author says improves your frameratesaltough from what ive read on it it seems to depend on the system your running some people claim to get about 20+ more fps whilst i get about 4 more.
Still not sure if i like it but its worth a try.

This sounds like the old chestnut that has been doing the rounds since FS2004 came out. Sure you can increase your frame rate by taking out half of your autogen. You could increase it even more if you could delete all your trees - and knock out all the AI. And all the special effects and water detail. Tell you what - why not just go back to FS98 and run it on a modern computer - should go pretty fast.

Calm down RollerBall, no one is forcing you to use it. I don't use it either, as I have a pretty nice PC, but I think it could be useful for people with very old PCs.

Easy Echo,
Roger was just having a laugh.
This patch has been discussed before but to sum it up, re-read Rogers post!  ;D

I remember this autogen thing clearly.

Who was it that posted a thread and was continuously gloating about it? Last time I remember, this person went by the name of Put Put.

If I remember correctly, he was probably put into the hole.

Calm down RollerBall

:)

Yeah don't worry ecko - the old blood pressure's pretty much under control these days. You'll be able to tell though when I am taking something really seriously by the smoke and crackling sound  ;)

;D

It all comes back just like yesterday! I think he might have been the guy who 'created' the file in the beginning - just by deleting half of the lines in the autogen xml file. Didn't like it at all when we pointed out that actually the 'new' file had errors as well. Boy, we've seen a few 'characters' pass through here don't you think. Would never have missed it for anything.

I don't care...I get extrememly high FPS anywhere in FS9 so I don't bother...even with everything maxed out :)

Best tweak I ever got was that little Latency program.  It almost doubled my frame rates...

Autogen patch speedup stuff isn't needed anymore, they fixed that leak
